Altos Hornos de México

Altos Hornos de México Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA), is the largest steel mining corporation in Mexico with installed capacity of 3.8 million metric tons of liquid steel.

AHMSA was founded in Mexico by American Harold R. Pape in 1942. In the late 1970s, it was nationalized by the federal government.

Ahmsa’s main steelmaking facilities and corporate offices are located in Monclova, Coahuila, close to transportation lines, raw materials supplies, principal points of export, and the company’s major domestic markets.

Grupo México

Grupo México Grupo México, is the largest mining corporation in Mexico and the third largest copper producer in the world.

The company was founded by Jorge Larrea in 1988. After the government of Carlos Salinas declared the state mining company bankrupt, Larrea purchased key Mexican copper mines in Cananea and Nacozari (cities in the state of Sonora). He also purchased numerous other mining sites, including coal mines in the state of Coahuila. By 2000, Grupo México was responsible for 87.5 percent of Mexico's copper production and was the world's third-largest copper producer.

Peñoles

Peñoles Peñoles (full name in Spanish: Industrias Peñoles, S.A.), based in Mexico City, Mexico, is a subsidiary company 100 percent Mexican and owned by the private Grupo Bal. Peñoles is the second largest Mexican mining company, the first Mexican producer of gold, zinc and lead and the world leader in silver production.

The main product of Peñoles is refined silver in the form of ingots and granulated silver which are 99.99% pure silver, this product is made in Torreón (northern Mexico) and from this location is exported all over the world.
