It was ranked number 1 Information Technology Company in 2005 by the Business Week magazine. On February 25, 2007, it became the biggest corporation in Latin America by market capitalization, surpassing giants like Petrobras.

Axtel
Axtel is a Mexican telecommunications company, headquartered in Monterrey that provides telecommunication products and services in Mexico. It is the main competitor of Telmex, who was a monopoly until very recently.Though incorporated in 1993, it was until 1997 that Axtel received authorizations from the Mexican government to operate in the radio electrical spectrum.

Teléfonos de México better known as Telmex, is a Mexican telecommunications company that provides telecommunication products and services in Mexico and in many parts of Latin America, such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Peru, and the United States. In addition to traditional fixed-line telephone service, Telmex also offers Internet access.Telmex was founded in 1947 when a group of Mexican investors bought Swedish Ericsson's Mexican branch.

Telnor, or Teléfonos del Noroeste ("Telephones of the Northwest") is a company providing telephone and internet services since 1981 (DSL through Prodigy and T1). Unefón
Unefón is a Mexican mobile phone company partially owned by Grupo Salinas (the parent company of TV Azteca) and Mexican industrial Moisés Saba.Unefón focuses on the middle class in Mexico. Unefón reached more than 2.5 million subscribers in 2006. The current CEO of Unefón is Diego Foyo.
Unefón's network is CDMA only, using no analog base stations. After a capacity exchange agreement with Iusacell, their coverage greatly increased.
It was acquired by Iusacell in 2006.
