Everybody requires a visa in order to enter Spain unless you belong to one of the following countries:

• Iceland
• Norway
• Switzerland
• Any country member of the European Union (EU)

To register with the police in case you were staying over 90 days was a requirement; fortunately for many visitors that requirement has been canceled.

You can visit Spain without a visa for no more than 90 days if you belong to one of the following countries/cities:

Anguilla Andorra Bulgaria Hong Kong Israel Monaco Singapore San Marino Turks & Caicos Is. Venezuela

Australia Argentina Chile Macao Korean Rep. New Zealand Montserrat St. Helena Virgin Islands USA

Brazil Bermuda Croatia Japan Malaysia Panama Nicaragua Caiman Islands Uruguay

Brunei British National Overseas Guatemala Liechtenstein Mexico Romania Paraguay Falklands Islands Vatican City

If your travel Documents have been issued under the Geneva Convention of 1951 you may access the country as well without a visa, these countries are:

Belgium Liechtenstein Sweden

Cyprus Luxemburg Switzerland

Denmark Norway UK

Iceland Germany

Ireland Netherlands

If you are required to get a visa in order to enter Spain, you will find the following information very useful:

Documents:

The following documents will be required upon visa application:

• Visa Application form.
• Valid passport.
• Copy of passport.
• Two passport-sized photographs.
• Return ticket.
• Bank Statement
• Copy of Bank Statement
• Travel details
• Reference letter from work or school
• Visa Fee

You will not get a visa in Spain as you arrive so you need to apply for one before your visit. The cost of a visa is of 60 Euros, and must be paid in a Spanish embassy/consulate. Regardless of your visa approved or denied the fee will not be refunded. Children under 6 years of age are not charged, and if you are a US citizen your dependants and spouse will not be charged either.

Once granted with the visa you will have to go through immigration control at the immigration posts in Japan upon arrival.

Requirements may vary depending on the type of visa you are applying for and the nationality of the applicant.
