BBC The British Broadcasting Corporation, usually known as the BBC, is the largest broadcasting corporation in the world in terms of audience numbers. Founded in 1922 as the British Broadcasting Company Ltd, it was subsequently granted a Royal Charter and made a state-owned but independent corporation in 1927. The corporation produces programmes and information services, broadcasting globally on television, radio, and the Internet. The stated mission of the BBC is "to inform, educate and entertain".

ITV Independent Television (generally known as ITV but also as ITV Network or Channel 3) is a public service network of British commercial television broadcasters, set up under the Independent Television Authority (ITA) to provide competition to the BBC. ITV is the oldest commercial television network in the UK.

Channel 4

Channel 4 Channel 4 is a public-service British television station, broadcast to all areas of the United Kingdom (and also the Republic of Ireland), which began transmissions in 1982. Though entirely commercially self-funded, it is ultimately publicly owned: Originally a subsidiary of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA), the station is now owned and operated by the Channel Four Television Corporation, a public body established in 1990 for this purpose and which came into operation in 1993, following the abolition of the IBA.

Five Five, launched in 1997, is the fifth and final national terrestrial analogue television channel to launch in the United Kingdom. Originally called Channel 5, the channel rebranded to Five in 2002. Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited (As of 2006, still the legal name of the company, though it now trades exclusively as five) was licensed by the UK Government in 1995 after an exhaustive bidding process that lasted from 1993 and throughout 1994.

Virgin Media Television

Virgin Media Television Virgin Media Television (formerly known as Flextech) is a British television company and is entirely owned by the British cable company Virgin Media (previously known as NTL and Telewest) and acts as its television programme production arm. Virgin Media Television owns a number of British channels, available on Digital Terrestrial (Freeview), Satellite (Sky Digital) and Cable platforms.
